What’s New at SNF Metrics: November Feature Highlights
Every month, we continue to refine, expand, and elevate the tools SNF operators rely on to run smarter, more efficient, and more compliant organizations. Last month’s release brought several powerful updates across Caseload, MDS, Billing, AR Tracking, and Staffing—each designed to improve accuracy, reduce manual work, and give teams deeper visibility into the metrics that matter.
Below is a breakdown of the newest enhancements now available in SNF Metrics.
???? 1. New & Improved Caseload Dashboard
Our Caseload Dashboard has been fully rebuilt to deliver clearer insights into Medicare caseload trends across both facilities and regions.
Key upgrades include:
- Clean, refreshed UI built for faster analysis
- Facility and regional comparisons
- A new summary tab showing:
- Average CMI by case-mix group
- Trending for both total and neutralized CMI
- Redesigned views highlighting:
- Month-over-month Medicare caseload trending
- Breakdowns of clinical and functional categories for each PDPM component
These improvements give clinical and reimbursement teams a more accurate, visual understanding of acuity, case-mix distribution, and changes across their organization.
???? 2. MDS Audit & Nursing CMI Accuracy Improvements
SNF Metrics now calculates Nursing CMI directly from CMS documentation, eliminating reliance on EHR-generated PDPM scores for non-Medicare residents.
Why this matters:
In states that do not reimburse using PDPM, many EHRs either omit or generate inaccurate PDPM scores for non-Medicare residents. By calculating Nursing CMI internally, SNF Metrics delivers a consistent and reliable baseline. This accuracy is essential as we prepare to launch the Expected vs. Actual Staffing report next quarter.
???? 3. AR Tracking: Enhanced Task List Report Functionality
The AR Task List is more flexible and informative than ever.
New features include:
- Choose how many task updates display (none, most recent, or all)
- Group tasks by Resident or Task Type
- New Start Date / End Date filters
- Option to include Closed tasks
- Multi-select Assignee filtering
These updates help AR teams track follow-up work more precisely and manage caseloads without losing visibility into key actions.
???? 4. Billing Enhancements
Aging With Notes
- Facility parameter now supports multi-select
- New sorting options allow users to order by Payer Type / Payer or Resident
PCC NCS Census Reconciliation
- New “Show Payer Type Detail” parameter surfaces discrepancies by payer category for cleaner, more controlled reconciliation workflows.
????️ 5. MDS Audit: Risk for Malnutrition Detail Enhancements
We expanded this clinical compliance report to give dietitians, MDS coordinators, and clinical leaders deeper alignment between assessments and MDS coding.
New improvements include:
- Display of each resident’s Nutritional Assessment risk level
- Side-by-side comparison with MDS-coded nutritional status
- Filters for both MDS I5600 responses and Nutritional Assessment levels
This provides a more accurate picture of risk, coding consistency, and documentation completeness.
???? 6. Staffing Updates: Labor Report Upgrade
To support more accurate staffing analysis, users can now exclude orientation hours from Total Hours, PPD, and Budget Variance.
This enhancement ensures cleaner comparisons when evaluating labor utilization, staffing patterns, and budget performance.
Closing Thoughts
These updates reflect our ongoing commitment to building tools that help operators work smarter—not harder. Each enhancement is shaped by real customer feedback and rooted in our mission to strengthen compliance, improve financial performance, and equip teams with the metrics they need every day.
