???? Data Driven Insights Help Nursing Homes Meet Today’s Staffing Challenge
CMS’s new staffing rule requires nursing homes to provide 3.48 nursing hours per resident per day, including 0.55 hours from RNs and 2.45 from nurse aides, with an RN on-site 24/7. However, only 60% of facilities currently meet these requirements (AHCA/NCAL).
To comply, facilities must hire 102,000 additional staff, costing an estimated $6.5 billion annually. Medicaid underfunding makes this even harder, and nearly 290,000 residents could be displaced if nursing homes cut admissions or close (AHCA/NCAL).
